President Trump has put this issue on notice by bringing it up as an agenda item to deal with just before the mid-term election.
I suspect he's done this because of the current "Caravans" coming through Latin America and Mexico.
Those on the left might think he's only doing this to bolster the base of the G.O.P.; and they'd be correct.
But what many on the left don't realize is that as recently as the mid-'90s, both Senator Harry Reid and President Clinton were saying exactly the same thing about immigration President Trump is today. (Caution: Tom Perez answering Jake Tapper's question may cause nausea for conservatives.)
Don't believe me? That would only be because you've not seen the clip that's recently been airing on FOXNews and some web sites.
In just a little over twenty years, the Democratic Party's narrative regarding immigration has changed from what the Republican Party is still saying today, to one of white extremists on the right being racist and bigoted when it comes to immigration.
With the "Caravans" growing by the week, and the confrontations the majority of men in the crowd clashing with Mexican police, it's not unreasonable for many to feel that 5,200 military troops being sent to the border won't be enough to deal with it once they arrive.
