Separation of Church and State

Here's an interesting video dealing with the title of this post. The guy speaks fast, so you might need to watch it more than once to catch all the points he makes... which is accurate and revealing. Enjoy!

And remember... it's freedom OF religion, NOT freedom from religion, like some atheists want you to think.

When China Hacked A U.S. Election - History Video

Dick Morris - former advisor to President Clinton in the 1990s - presents historical facts in his history video about a real proven attempt by the Chinese to get Clinton re-elected. You may find this more interesting than it sounds on the surface.

Don't Widen the Plate!

I wouldn't share this piece if it wasn't worth the time or effort, trust me, when you're finished reading it, you'll agree!

In Nashville , Tennessee , during the first week of January, 1996, more than 4,000 baseball coaches descended upon the Opryland Hotel for the 52nd annual ABCA's convention.

While I waited in line to register with the hotel staff, I heard other more veteran coaches rumbling about the lineup of speakers scheduled to present during the weekend. One name, in particular, kept resurfacing, always with the same sentiment — “John Scolinos is here? Oh, man, worth every penny of my airfare.”

Who is John Scolinos, I wondered. No matter; I was just happy to be there.

In 1996, Coach Scolinos was 78 years old and five years retired from a college coaching career that began in 1948. He shuffled to the stage to an impressive standing ovation, wearing dark polyester pants, a light blue shirt, and a string around his neck from which home plate hung — a full-sized, stark-white home plate.

Seriously, I wondered, who is this guy?

After speaking for twenty-five minutes, not once mentioning the prop hanging around his neck, Coach Scolinos appeared to notice the snickering among some of the coaches. Even those who knew Coach Scolinos had to wonder exactly where he was going with this, or if he had simply forgotten about home plate since he’d gotten on stage. Then, finally ..“You’re probably all wondering why I’m wearing home plate around my neck,” he said, his voice growing irascible. I laughed along with the others, acknowledging the possibility.  “I may be old, but I’m not crazy. The reason I stand before you today is to share with you baseball people what I’ve learned in my life, what I’ve learned about home plate in my 78 years.” Several hands went up when Scolinos asked how many Little League coaches were in the room. “Do you know how wide home plate is in Little League?”

After a pause, someone offered, “Seventeen inches?”, more of a question than answer.

“That’s right,” he said. “How about in Babe Ruth’s day? Any Babe Ruth coaches in the house?” Another long pause.

“Seventeen inches?” a guess from another reluctant coach.

“That’s right,” said Scolinos. “Now, how many high school coaches do we have in the room?” Hundreds of hands shot up, as the pattern began to appear. “How wide is home plate in high school baseball?”

“Seventeen inches,” they said, sounding more confident.

“You’re right!” Scolinos barked. “And you college coaches, how wide is home plate in college?”

“Seventeen inches!” we said, in unison.

“Any Minor League coaches here? How wide is home plate in pro ball?”............“Seventeen inches!”

“RIGHT! And in the Major Leagues, how wide home plate is in the Major Leagues?

“Seventeen inches!”

“SEV-EN-TEEN INCHES!” he confirmed, his voice bellowing off the walls. “And what do they do with a Big League pitcher who can’t throw the ball over seventeen inches?” Pause. “They send him to Pocatello !” he hollered, drawing raucous laughter. “What they don’t do is this: they don’t say, ‘Ah, that’s okay, Jimmy. You can’t hit a seventeen-inch target? We’ll make it eighteen inches or nineteen inches.  We’ll make it twenty inches so you have a better chance of hitting it. If you can’t hit that, let us know so we can make it wider still, say twenty-five inches.'” Pause. “Coaches...” pause, "... what do we do when our best player shows up late to practice? When our team rules forbid facial hair and a guy shows up unshaven? What if he gets caught drinking? Do we hold him accountable? Or do we change the rules to fit him? Do we widen home plate? The chuckles gradually faded as four thousand coaches grew quiet, the fog lifting as the old coach’s message began to unfold. He turned the plate toward himself and, using a Sharpie, began to draw something. When he turned it toward the crowd, point up, a house was revealed, complete with a freshly drawn door and two windows. “This is the problem in our homes today. With our marriages, with the way we parent our kids. With our discipline. We don’t teach accountability to our kids, and there is no consequence for failing to meet standards. We widen the plate!”

Pause. Then, to the point at the top of the house he added a small American flag. “This is the problem in our schools today. The quality of our education is going downhill fast and teachers have been stripped of the tools they need to be successful, and to educate and discipline our young people. We are allowing others to widen home plate! Where is that getting us?”

Silence. He replaced the flag with a Cross. “And this is the problem in the Church, where powerful people in positions of authority have taken advantage of young children, only to have such an atrocity swept under the rug for years. Our church leaders are widening home plate for themselves!  And we allow it.”

“And the same is true with our government. Our so called representatives make rules for us that don’t apply to themselves. They take bribes from lobbyists and foreign countries. They no longer serve us. And we allow them to widen home plate and we see our country falling into a dark abyss while we watch.”

I was amazed. At a baseball convention where I expected to learn something about curve balls and bunting and how to run better practices, I had learned something far more valuable. From an old man with home plate strung around his neck, I had learned something about life, about myself, about my own weaknesses and about my responsibilities as a leader. I had to hold myself and others accountable to that which I knew to be right, lest our families, our faith, and our society continue down an undesirable path.

“If I am lucky,” Coach Scolinos concluded, “you will remember one thing from this old coach today. It is this: if we fail to hold ourselves to a higher standard, a standard of what we know to be right; if we fail to hold our spouses and our children to the same standards, if we are unwilling or unable to provide a consequence when they do not meet the standard; and if our schools & churches & our government fail to hold themselves accountable to those they serve, there is but one thing to look forward to ..”

With that, he held home plate in front of his chest, turned it around, and revealed its dark black backside, “... dark days ahead.”

Coach Scolinos died in 2009 at the age of 91, but not before touching the lives of hundreds of players and coaches, including mine. Meeting him at my first ABCA convention kept me returning year after year, looking for similar wisdom and inspiration from other coaches. He is the best clinic speaker the ABCA has ever known because he was so much more than a baseball coach. His message was clear: “Coaches, keep your players—no matter how good they are—your own children, your churches, your government, and most of all, keep yourself at seventeen inches."

And this my friends is what our country has become and what is wrong with it today, and how to fix it.

"Don't widen the plate."

Schumer Responds in True Democrat Style - Hypocrite!

Today's vote on confirming Gorsuch as the replacement for the late Antonin Scalia, has got Sen. Chuck "U" Schumer and the Pro-Choice crowd in hysteria over the use of the "nuclear option" by "Turtle Face" Sen. McConnell. Chucky's just hoping that most of the country's attention span is still no longer than a gold fish; three seconds.

Let's step into the "time machine" and go back only four years ago when the Democrats themselves chose to use the "nuclear option" for the first time ever. At that time, many talk show hosts who discussed this move by former Sen. Harry Reed, warned that this would eventually come back to bite them in the ass. Well, here's the facts, straight off of Wikipedia's page on "Nuclear Option". Read it and weep, you fools:

Events of November 2013

On November 21, 2013, the Senate voted 52–48, with all Republicans and three Democrats voting against, to rule that "the vote on cloture under rule XXII for all nominations other than for the Supreme Court of the United States is by majority vote,"[63] even though the text of the rule requires "three-fifths of the senators duly chosen and sworn" to end debate.[64] This ruling's precedent eliminated the use of the filibuster against all executive branch nominees and judicial nominees other than to the Supreme Court.[65] The actual Senate rule was never changed.[64] At the time of the vote, 59 executive branch nominees and 17 judicial nominees were awaiting confirmation.[66]
The Democrats' stated motivation for this change was expansion of filibustering by Republicans during the Obama administration, in particular blocking three nominations to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Republicans had asserted that the D.C. Circuit was underworked,[66] and also cited the need for cost reduction by reducing the number of judges in that circuit.[67]
Prior to November 21, 2013, in the entire history of the nation there had been only 168 cloture motions filed (or reconsidered) with regard to nominations. Nearly half of them (82) had been during the Obama Administration, [68] but those cloture motions were often filed merely to speed things along, rather than in response to any filibuster.[69]

While Sen. Chuck "U" Schumer is correct, this is the first time for a Supreme Court Nominee, unlike the Democrats' use of the nuclear option in 2013, he's certainly being hypocritical in whining about it. As for the Pro-Choice crowd... well, all I've got to say is, show me where in the Constitution it says killing babys is allowable and I'll convert to being a liberal. And please, don't even bother bringing up Roe V. Wade. We know the truth about that whole scam was revealed years ago as a rigged decision.

The Dodd-Frank Law Was a Good One, Right?

After all, it was supposed to fix a lot of problems about banking and lending and such. Well, not so fast! It turns out that this law actually opened up a whole new door for corruption and abuse, at several levels.

To understand what I'm saying, it's best to use a few links to get some background about an issue that far too many Joe Sixpacks out there have no real understanding of just how much our politicians have been taking us to the cleaners. After going through these links, you'll get a general sense of what I'm getting at:

  1. Reckless Endangerment (Note who the co-author is for this book.)
  2. Makers and Takers (Wall Street, not Main Street, crafted reforms  with politicians in Congress after the Housing Market collapse.)
  3. Tucker Carlson interviews Josh Rosner (The whole show is recorded here, but the interview of Josh Rosner - as the page notes - begins @ the 35:50 mark. However, the prior interviews may also be of interest to you. Sorry, it's the only recording of this recent show I could find of this interview.)
  4. Prager U's latest video presentation on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) I bet you, like me, have never heard of them before.
I don't know about you, but I get the clear impression that Joe Sixpack isn't who Wall Street and Congressional politicians are interested in benefiting!

The Warsaw Ghetto Plumber

Remember this lady? No? That's okay, you'll learn why further on in this message.

Irena Sendler

Died: May 12, 2008 (aged 98)
Warsaw, Poland

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist.  She had an ulterior motive.

Irena smuggled Jewish infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried.   She also carried a burlap sack in the back of her truck, for larger kids.

Irena kept a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers, of course, wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

Ultimately, she was caught, however, and the Nazi's broke both of her legs and arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she had smuggled out,  In a glass jar that she buried under a tree in her back yard.
After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and tried to reunite the family.   Most had been gassed.   Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

In 2007 Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize.
She was not selected.

Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.

Later another politician, Barack Obama, won for his work as a community organizer for ACORN. (That's funny, I recall he won it in anticipation of all the great work he was going to do in bringing about peace for the world.)

In MEMORIAM - 72 YEARS LATER
I'm doing my small part by posting this message here on my blog.  I hope you'll consider doing the same by copying & sharing an email to your "Circle of Friends".  It is now more than 65 years since the Second World War in Europe ended.

This  e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain,  In memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated!

Now, more than ever, with Iran , and others, claiming the HOLOCAUST to be 'a myth', It's imperative to make sure the world never forgets,  because there are others who would like to do it again.
