Dear Nike, You got this one wrong!

Dear Nike,
I want to have a conversation about this hat.   It's over 13 years old.   I don't remember when I bought it exactly,   I don't remember where I bought it.   But what I do remember is why I wore it.
On August 10, 2005, I was a newlywed with two young sons.   My husband Tim and I had toasted our one month anniversary the night before, and I was enjoying a rare evening to myself, catching up on reading and relishing the quiet.   Until there was a knock on my door. I had no way of knowing that the small act of turning a knob was about to shatter my life into a million pieces.   I sat numb and in sheer disbelief as I was told that my husband, while in a foot pursuit and subsequent struggle with a suspect that ended up in the road, had been struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.   He took his last breath lying in the middle of the street.   What I lost in that moment is indescribable.   I had to watch his mother be dealt the most agonizing blow a parent can face, and I couldn't comfort her because I was in my own hell.   I had to find a way to gut my own children in the gentlest way possible, and tell them that this man they had come to love, who they looked up to, who cared for them as his own, would never walk through our door again.
I don't know if you've ever attended a police funeral, but watching grown men who've seen the absolute worst things a civilian can imagine, break down and sob over the casket of their brother is an image that never leaves you.   The bagpipes haunt my dreams to this day, but it was the faces of my children, the innocence that abandoned them at such a tender age that brought me to my knees.
I had no choice but to move on.   We trudged zombie-like through our days for weeks and weeks on end.   I never left the house except to drive the boys to school, or buy food we barely touched.   I realized that I had to do something.   I had to move my body or I was going to crawl out of my own skin.   So I put on the only cap I had and I went for a run.   It was short, it hurt and it was ugly.   But I felt, just for those few moments on that road, like a normal person.   So I kept doing it.   I put that hat on and I ran every day.   Sometimes I had to stop and sit down because I was sobbing so hard.   Sometimes I was so angry I ran until I thought I my heart would stop, sometimes I would just scream over and over again, but it still felt better than doing nothing.
That black cap became a symbol to me, it is sweat stained and it's shape is gone, the buckle in the back barely closes; but that hat represents my family's rise from the ashes.   It stands for the strength and the sacrifice we made loving a man who had a job that we all knew could end his life, every time he walked out that door.   And it did.   And I accept that.
I still wear this hat, I wore it on my run this morning.   And then I heard about your new ad campaign.
Colin Kapernick has the absolute right to protest anything he damn well pleases.   I don't dispute that for one second.   My father, my husband and many, many friends have all served this country and were willing to fight for his right to kneel.   But that right goes both ways.   I also have a right to express my disgust at your decision to portray him as some kind of hero.   What, exactly has Colin Kapernick sacrificed?   His multi million dollar paycheck...?   Nope, you already gave him one of those.   His reputation?   No, he's been fawned over by celebrities and media alike.   Funny, Tim Tebow was never called courageous when he knelt.   This man, whose contempt for law enforcement fits him like a...sock, has promoted an agenda that has been proven false time and time again, in study after study.   But facts don't seem to matter anymore.   This man has thrown his support behind divisive anti-police groups, and donated money directly to a fugitive from justice who escaped prison after killing a police officer.   I question the judgement of anyone who would put someone this controversial and divisive at the head of an advertising campaign, but it isn't my company to run.
I don't know if I'll have the heart to ever get rid of this cap, but I will tell you this, I'll never purchase another Nike product as long as I live.   You got this one wrong Nike, terribly, terribly wrong.
Sherry Graham-Potter, surviving spouse of Deputy Tim Graham

I received a reply from one of my email friends :

Thanks. Yes, very worthwhile piece.
Makes you wonder why the NFL does not challenge Nike on this. The swoosh logo is plastered all over the league, and somebody negotiates these contracts.
and responded to him with this:

My suspicion is that too many are simply corporate "wonks" who merely go along, to get along, and not lose their gravy train position by standing up for principle. In other words, they've been conditioned by the past, and haven't adjusted to the present under the current administration.

Dear President Trump...

I, like millions of conservatives across this great nation of ours, supports 99% of what you're doing to return our great nation to its former status. I recently read a list of the accomplishments you've achieved over the past two years in office, but it would be way too long to list them here*. I hope and pray you'll handily get re-elected for a second term.

The one percent I don't agree with, however, has the greatest potential to erase all of those accomplishments and send this great nation into a devastating circumstance which will make the Great Depression look like a picnic. Yet, every administration since Pres. Jackson has made things worse! The only problem is, we don't know when it will impact the country and so many of us have been hearing about this danger for so many years now - here's another recent article on it - that we've become numb to it to the point of believing it will never happen. While it may not happen in our lifetime, I shudder to think about leaving such a legacy to my children, or grandchildren, to deal with.

What is it? Our federal government's deficit spending and nation debt! In trying to rationalize why you are also contributing to this problem, I can only guess that you are hoping increased economic growth and productivity will somehow begin to diminish it in some way, but even at the levels we're now seeing, that will not fix the problem.

I strongly urge you to communicate to the nation during this next year's presidential campaign a plan to address this looming issue that we seem to be avoiding dealing with.

18 Years Later

In memory of Gary Box, NYFD, running through the clogged tunnel to get to the towers. He was never found after the collapse.

We were both preparing to leave the house and head to our respective schools for the day.

While downstairs getting our breakfast ready, we happened to turn our TV on; something which was out of our normal habits for the morning's activities.

Suddenly there was the image of the twin towers of the World Trade Center with tower #1 smoking like a coal stack from the plane which had already hit it.

Then, as we were watching what was being reported by the "talking heads" about what they thought was an accidental collision by some small aircraft having hit the tower, what seemed to be a commercial aircraft appeared from the left side of the screen flying directly at tower #2 and slamming into it; this time lower than what had hit tower #1.

As the visual of the humongous fireball from the fully fueled aircraft billowed out of the far side of the impact, the shock for both of us suddenly made us realize that something monumental had just changed everything.

Knowing that we were pressed for time, we quickly consumed our breakfast as we left from our house in our respective vehicles and headed for our school.

Once I arrived at my school the staff was clearly abuzz with trepidation about what they too had seen at home; wondering how things had developed. In the staff lounge, the television was turned on and some were standing around listening and watching the continued reporting as both towers continued to smoke.

At the time, we exchanged conversations of speculation about what was behind this before having to head to our respective classrooms to face our class of students. For me, it was a 4th grade class of 9 & 10 year olds. The principal came into the lounge and spoke to us about the need to not dwell on this issue with our students in the grades old enough to understand what had occurred back in New York City.

So, requests to turn on our room's TV from students in my class were ignored and were simply directed to wait until they got home to talk about it with their parents.

By the time the morning recess arrived and I was heading back to the lounge to get an update on what had occurred, it struck me that something had changed while I was walking from my class to the lounge in the outside hall; there were no jet aircraft flying overhead in their normal take-off pattern over the school from Sea-Tac Airport.

Upon entering the lounge the TV was on and other members of the school staff were just standing and staring; listening quietly. The longer I stood there, the more I realized that both towers had fallen; killing the thousands of workers on the 100+ floors of each tower, along with the first responders who'd gone in to rescue them.

After bringing the class back into the classroom, it wasn't long before we got word that school was being shut down for the rest of the day, and students would be taken home, either by their bus, or parents who were coming to the building requesting to do so almost from the start of the day; many had not come to begin with.

For several days, which was unforgettably eerie, there was no aircraft in the skies, which normally passed directly over our house several times a day. Across the nation, everyone that was traveling across any part of the country was grounded for the interim. The only mode of transportation fell back on trains, buses and cars.

As the days turned into weeks we gradually learned the background story behind this tragic and horrendous event. We, as a nation, briefly unified as a people; concerned about the reality that we were not as impervious as we once thought we were. This was the wake up event which had never before occurred on our home soil.

But, the months passed, and somehow, at the first anniversary, the media decided that showing any footage would be too traumatic to those directly affected by the event.

This media policy was in force for many years. To remember the anniversary of the event as the years passed, there were the obligatory specials which focused more on the families impacted by the loss of their loved ones, but the actual facts behind the event were glossed over; mostly by the Media (D) who was gradually aligning with the Democrat Party, especially once Obama was elected.

Thus, our youth never learned the facts as to the real motive behind the attack and why our young soldiers were fighting in Afghanistan.

Today, because of such "fuzzy" history and the protective measures by the Media (D), most 18 year olds have no idea why we have only recently, on such conservative stations as FOX News, begun to show footage again of this most memorable event to happen on American soil.

Here is a current video composition, set to the redone song of "The Sounds of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel - a '60s rock hit when I was a high school student - created this year to commemorate the day which change the country, if only for a while. All photos are from that day, and days which followed in a vain attempt to rescue any potential survivors of the collapsed buildings. (Thanks, Steve, for sharing this.)

We can only hope that those who happen to view any of these specials will begin to wonder and research about the truth of the matter and cause them to embark on a journey of discovery and maturation.

Combined with the undeniable experience of the lowest employment and best economic record in more than 50 years, it may just make some of the indoctrinated youth in our country to really be "woke" in a fact based reality and vote to re-elect Pres. Trump!

Is the Increase in Funding Worth It?

In my opinion, this is a popularly nostalgic image of our schools, but more accurately portrays the achievement level of too many students coming out of this system today.

Why is it that test scores have fallen from past performance?

Well, to me, after 40 years in the profession, there are several contributing factors; breakdown of the family unit, a drifting away in our nation of moral values such as "right & wrong", the preoccupation / distraction of the advent of technology... take your pick, or combine them all if you want to be more inclusive.

As we've learned recently, the McCleary decision provided lots of new funding for school districts who then increased teacher's salaries during negotiations over the last year.

Then, more recently as the school year was nearing the start this fall, we heard news about how many of those districts who used the increase in funding to raise teacher's salaries were suddenly looking at "RIFING" some of their school staffs. (Here's another source.) Part of this problem is how teacher's unions have helped to create district's funding problems by negotiating retirement pensions. Yep, most likely, I'm part of this problem. So, is it fair that I should blame the teacher's union for staff still in the profession who are now dealing with their funding problem? No, they should... but won't, because they're just as much in need about looking into the future as I was when going through my career! Sadly, it's a vicious cycle with a better solution being ignored by the state legislature.

Now, the '17/'18 test results have come in... and it's not so great.

Granted, these test results are pre-fundng from the McCleary decision, so it's oranges and apples. However, with the cut back in school staffing - what the WEA always calls "stack 'em deep, teach 'em cheap" resulting in reduced learning gains - it seems we've merely ended up increasing the salaries of teachers, and not improved the promised improvements in test scores for the '19/'20 results which will come out next year this month.

Wanna bet?

The Real Story of Reconstruction

As most conservatives have been, or are currently, learning about Demorcats/Liberals/Socialists, it is that they are habitual lairs. Hillary was a great example, but now Sanders, Warren, Harris, et al, have made it pretty clear to us all.

They not only are lying about current issues in this presidential campaign, but they've been lying about the true origin of who has been responsible for Jim Crow laws in the south, the truth behind the K.K.K., and why they've made themselves out as the party looking out for minorities over the last several decades.

If you view the latest video from PragerU titled "Reconstruction: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", you'll learn information about these things your high school teachers, or college professors, didn't accurately educate you about regarding this era of our nation's history. Instead, they fed you slanted and revised versions of what really happened.

Four Simple Questions...

Are there ANY logical answers?
You be the judge……

Here's what I would like to know. If the TRUTH ever comes out and it is decided that Obama was never eligible to be president, what happens to all the laws he signed into being and all the executive orders?

Should they all be null and void?

Here are 4 Simple questions from a reputable attorney..... This should really get your "gray matter" to churning, even if you are an Obama fan.

For all you "anti-Fox News" folks, none of this information came from Fox. All of it can be verified from legitimate sources (Wikipedia, the Kapiolani hospital website itself, and a good history book, as noted herein). It is very easy for someone to check out.

4 Simple Questions.......

1. Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes’. So how can the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is "African-American" when the term wasn't even used at that time ?

2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961, and Lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, Right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was born in "Kenya, East Africa".

This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist?

Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the "British East Africa Protectorate". (check it below)

3. On the Birth Certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital".

This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "KauiKeolani Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home," respectively.

The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?

Why hasn't this been discussed in the major media?
4. Perhaps a clue comes from Obama's book on his father. He states how proud he is of his father fighting in WW II. I'm not a math genius, so I may need some help from you. Barack Obama's "birth certificate" says his father was 25 years old in 1961 when Obama was born. That should have put his father's date of birth approximately 1936 - if my math holds (Honest! I did that without a calculator!) Now we need a non-revised history book-one that hasn't been altered to satisfy the author's goals-to verify that WW II was basically between 1939 and 1945. Just how many 3 year olds fight in Wars? Even in the latest stages of WW II his father wouldn't have been more than 9 years old.
Does that mean that Mr. Obama is a liar, or simply chooses to alter the facts to satisfy his imagination or political purposes ?
