President Trump's State of the Union Speech last night was, in my opinion, a five star address to the nation. I believe that it will go down as one of the more notable S.O.T.U. speeches, if not the best given the current circumstances the nation is in.
Of course, those who've been watching the "anti-Trump" channels - CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS, were either shaking their heads out of ideological disagreement, as some in the chamber were doing, or, were surprised to hear things the administration has done in some areas - like women's employment - because the channels they've listened to have never told the viewers these things.
I was especially pleased to hear the president speak directly to the border crisis. Did you notice how Speaker Pelosi was the "gals in white" crew orchestra leader? When Pres. Trump touched on this issue, she had to hold her hand up to hush their reaction from getting too loud. Then too, there was the other part where, when mentioning the highest women's employment stats, they couldn't contain themselves and leapt up to cheer information I suspect some of them were totally unaware of. Here's that section of the speech.
However, once the euphoria of the speech subsides, and the Democrats are back at the negotiation table - if they even show up - will realize from the poll results that they're in a bad position to win anything in their favor. Because of this reality, I tend to think they're going to allow the government shutdown again in an effort to shift the blame - as they did the first time - on the president.
I hope I'm completely wrong and am surprised that an agreement on funding the building of the border wall is reached.
Here's Roy Beck, head of NumbersUSA, with his blog reaction to the speech last night. He has more in-depth understanding of the issue than I.
And, here's Media Research Center's compilation of what went on before, during, and after the speech.
Can you say, "Cry babies"? I know I didn't whine like these people did when Obama gave a SOTU address.
