The Consequences of Ignorance

The post Charlottesville, VA riots earlier this month have seen anti-slavery sentiment on the east coast by revolutionary thugs in the form of "antifa" and "Black Lives Matter" accelerate like one of Kim Jung Un's test missiles. This has been happening in the past few days in the form of groups going to locations in states around the south and pulling down from their pedestals statues of Confederate Generals.

What's next? Well, Al Sharpton has - within days - called for removing the Jefferson Memorial on the National Park Mall. Will it be all and anything even remotely connected to those who were slave owners? Keep in mind that the leftists and media are doing anything and everything to remove Pres. Trump from his office; a "silent coup" as Rush Limbaugh has clearly stated only a week ago.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

This mentality, which is being given much attention in the mainstream media, has its origin in what has been the gradual breakdown and consequent dumbing down of our educational system by design. As I've stated in previous posts, a nation of people ignorant of their past are doomed by ignorance to ruin the best thing the world has ever had; a nation of freedoms and liberties which no other nation on earth has had the blessing of enjoying for the past 240+ years.

History, accurate and deep history, which explains the social norms and context of circumstance in the period, has not been taught by the educational system in our nation for decades. (Here's a prime example.) The textbooks which students have had over the past 40 years have gradually been watered down and modified in the explanation of the facts to the point where, despite the tomes that they are, the students today don't even know the actual reason behind why the Civil War was fought.

The following article, and please, note that this article was written years ago, provides an example which nicely illustrates my point about this level of ignorance by the vast majority of younger generations.

IN DEFENSE OF GENERAL LEE

By Edward C. SmithSaturday, August 21, 1999
© Copyright 1999 The Washington Post Company
Let me begin on a personal note. I am a 56-year-old, third-generation, African American Washingtonian who is a graduate of the D.C. public schools and who happens also to be a great admirer of Robert E. Lee's.
Today, Lee, who surrendered his troops to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House 134 years ago, is under attack by people -- black and white -- who have incorrectly characterized him as a traitorous, slaveholding racist. He was recently besieged in Richmond by those opposed to having his portrait displayed prominently in a new park. My first visit to Lee's former home, now Arlington National Cemetery, came when I was 12 years old, and it had a profound and lasting effect on me. Since then I have visited the cemetery hundreds of times searching for grave sites and conducting study tours for the Smithsonian Institution and various other groups interested in learning more about Lee and his family as well as many others buried at Arlington. Lee's life story is in some ways the story of early America. He was born in 1807 to a loving mother, whom he adored. His relationship with his father, Henry "Light Horse Harry" Lee, (who was George Washington's chief of staff during the Revolutionary War) was strained at best. Thus, as he matured in years, Lee adopted Washington (who had died in 1799) as a father figure and patterned his life after him. Two of Lee's ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence, and his wife, Mary Custis, was George Washington's foster great-granddaughter.
Lee was a top-of-the-class graduate of West Point, a Mexican War hero and superintendent of West Point. I can think of no family for which the Union meant as much as it did for his.  But it is important to remember that the 13 colonies that became 13 states reserved for themselves a tremendous amount of political autonomy. In pre-Civil War America, most citizens' first loyalty went to their state and the local community in which they lived. Referring to the United States of America in the singular is a purely post-Civil War phenomenon.
All this should help explain why Lee declined command of the Union forces -- by Abraham Lincoln -- after the firing on Fort Sumter. After much agonizing, he resigned his commission in the Union army and became a Confederate commander, fighting in defense of Virginia, which at the outbreak of the war possessed the largest population of free blacks (more than 60,000) of any Southern state.
Lee never owned a single slave, because he felt that slavery was morally reprehensible. He even opposed secession. (His slaveholding was confined to the period when he managed the estate of his late father-in-law, who had willed eventual freedom for all of his slaves.)
Regarding the institution, it's useful to remember that slavery was not abolished in the nation's capital until April 1862, when the country was in the second year of the war. The final draft of the Emancipation Proclamation was not written until September 1862, to take effect the following Jan. 1, and it was intended to apply only to those slave states that had left the Union.  Lincoln's preeminent ally, Frederick Douglass, was deeply disturbed by these limitations but determined that it was necessary to suppress his disappointment and "take what we can get now and go for the rest later." The "rest" came after the war.  Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the few civil rights leaders who clearly understood that the era of the 1960s was a distant echo of the 1860s, and thus he read deeply into Civil War literature. He came to admire and respect Lee, and to this day, no member of his family, former associate or fellow activist that I know of has protested the fact that in Virginia Dr. King's birthday -- a federal holiday -- is officially celebrated as "Robert E. Lee-Stonewall Jackson-Martin Luther King Day."
Lee is memorialized with a statue in the U.S. Capitol and in stained glass in the Washington Cathedral.  It is indeed ironic that he has long been embraced by the city he fought against and yet has now encountered some degree of rejection in the city he fought for.
In any event, his most fitting memorial is in Lexington, Va.: a living institution where he spent his final five years. There the much-esteemed general metamorphosed into a teacher, becoming the president of small, debt-ridden Washington College, which now stands as the well-endowed Washington and Lee University.
It was in Lexington that he made a most poignant remark a few months before his death. "Before and during the War Between the States I was a Virginian," he said. "After the war I became an American."  I have been teaching college students for 30 years, and learned early in my career that the twin maladies of ignorance and misinformation are not incurable diseases. The antidote for them is simply to make a lifelong commitment to reading widely and deeply. I recommend it for anyone who would make judgment on figures from the past, including Robert E. Lee.

Footnote: Just today I viewed a report on the Tucker Carlson Show on FOXNews that ESPN has pulled an Asian sports commentary employee from covering a football game because, wait for it, wait for it... his name is Robert Lee. I kid you NOT! How's that for political correctness? We're in a very dangerous spot today. And, then there's this from the U.N.!

Letter To NFL Commissioner Says It All

Ret. Marine Col. Jeffery Powers wrote to the NFL commissioners the following:

Commissioners,

I've been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium.

I missed the '90-'91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella, was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it.

Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins.

Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country beside playing with a ball and believing they're something special! They're not! My Marines and Soldiers were!

You are complicit in this! You'll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an  immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it's their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner.

What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly?

I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that's much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National  Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn't it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?

Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game!

You condone it all by your refusal to act. You're just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines. I applaud those who have not.

Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles.

They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don't do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don't even have ice! Many don't have legs or arms.

Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes.

I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!

Time to change the channel.

Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida congressman Allen West. West then posted the letter to his news website

The Collapse of Modern America?

Anyone who's studied history knows - like our nation's Founding Fathers did so well - understands that great civilizations have come and gone. Egypt, Greece, Rome, and now... it seems America.

The one major difference the Founding Fathers of America applied to the creation of American civilization is that they learned from their studies the mistakes that past cultures made. They understood the need to combine two critical checks against those mistakes; individual moral virtue and a limited government structure which kept the power in the hands of those individuals which would provide a climate of unlimited opportunity to anyone who sought their God given rights.

But over the last 240 years the changes and developments of technology and communications seems to have gradually stripped away citizens from even knowing this truth. Also, the rise of the concept of communism, seems to me, to be what prophets of scripture warned about. The nation has slowly shifted from individual independence and morally strong norms to the dominant governing thought process of an adolescent who knows nothing of the past, but only that they are not satisfied with their affluent lifestyle; thanks, in my view, predominantly to the modern mass communication tools we now take for granted.

With the recent arrival of one president came a reversal of social progress from such momentous events in the past such as the Civil War to right the country's wrongs of slavery. Divisiveness and ethnic resentment became an acceptable attitude as modeled by the very man who was supposed to be a hallmark of breaking through past social barriers by being elected. Then, the heartland of the nation demonstrated quietly through the ballot box that it was fed up with the direction this attitude was taking it and elected a man who understood and successfully communicated that understanding to the people of the heartland.

Now, those globalist/facists, who over the past several decades have patiently manipulated that very attitudinal shift, are lashing out in violent reaction to those who supported the only candidate speaking the very core of the country's concerns; divisiveness, lack of opportunity, feeling ignored and even oppressed by the very government that was supposed to be listening and responding to their issues. Now, with the media's support, the very group of people who built and defended this country through multiple wars and attacks against it are being persecuted and targeted by factions which have among its own ranks some who are of that same ethnic group; white, Christian males, or "antifa" and Black Lives Matter. (Another example of media bias.)

Civility of debate is rapidly falling out of acceptance and many long standing institutions, such as colleges, universities and corporations - out of concern for their sustained existence as a viable entity within this collapsing civilization - are taking actions to restrict free speech; the first right of a free  and civilized society. Youth today go about their misguided actions of seeking social justice while those who have longer term agenda of global dominance smile at how easy it is to manipulate them for their purposes.

If the reader is inclined to listen to an individual who provides a more clear understanding of the "Liberal" mindset we are dealing with today, I highly recommend watching this video.

In my honest opinion, this does not bode well for the continued stability and survival of our great nation.

A History Lesson For Today

With all the media hype going on in the east today with the "social justice warrior" groups demanding statues of individuals connected in any way with slavery or the civil war be torn down because they're supposedly racist and a "blight" on our country, I urge you to read this piece shared from a friend about the history (something the youth of today have not adequately been taught the truth about) of Robert E. Lee; Confederate leader of the South during the Civil War that was fought to end slavery.

Was the Civil War about slavery only? Most think it was, but some know that there is another more critical issue of state's rights. To better understand this, I urge the reader to check out this article, and the information below, to consider the facts behind this issue.
= = = = = = = = = =

1.  Robert E Lee was married to George Washington's foster great-granddaughter. He worked with Grant during the Mexican-American war and became ...a decorated war hero defending this country He believed slavery was a great evil and his wife broke the law by teaching slaves to read and write. After the civil war he worked with Andrew Johnson's program of reconstruction. He became very popular with the northern states and the Barracks at West Point were named in his honor in 1962. He was a great man who served this country his entire life in some form or other. His memorial is now being called a blight. No American military veteran should be treated as such. People keep yelling, "You can't change history." Sadly you can. This is no better than book burnings. ISIS tried rewriting history by destroying historical artifacts. Is that really who we want to emulate?

2. As they tear down this "blight" keep these few historical facts in mind. No military veteran and highly decorated war hero should ever be treated as such. This is not Iraq and that is not a statue of Sadam.
3.  IN ADDITION:: Lee was also very torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union. His wifes grandfather George Washington was a huge influence on him. He believed that ultimately, states rights trumped the federal government and chose to lead the Southern army. His estate, Arlington, near Washington DC was his home and while away fighting the war, the federal government demanded that Lee himself pay his taxes in person. He sent his wife but the money was not accepted from a woman. When he could not pay the taxes, the government began burying dead Union soldiers on his land. The government is still burying people there today. It is now called Arlington National Cemetery. DO THEY WANT TO TEAR THAT UP ALSO ??

The Hijacking of America

In order to understand what's actually going on today in our country, let's imagine, for the purposes of explaining it, that we are a fly on the wall in a meeting room for leftist/stateists. This meeting takes place somewhere in the country shortly after the last presidential election in 2016.

"All right, let's get this meeting started, everyone sit down and give me your attention."

"We are all shocked and stunned that our candidate didn't win and that that bastard, Donald Trump, did."

"This surprise outcome changes everything! Without Hillary in control of our agenda everything we've worked for over the past forty years is in jeopardy. If our progressive plans for shifting this country away from a capitalist imperialistic oppressor, to a socialist state of big government and greater control, our 'fellow travelers' must now take a more radical approach to making sure our long-term objective continues."

"To clarify that objective, I need to review several points which we must stay focused on if we are to succeed:
  1.  We must ramp up our efforts at future events and push other issues - our identity politics is working well - which will allow us to promote the agenda of breaking down the social fabric of law and order. We must build on the effectiveness of our participation in Furgeson, MO, and Baltimore, MD in order to do just that.
  2. We must become even more organized at coordinating our efforts to recruit and fund anarchists and those who align with our ideology to overthrow this imperialist oligarch; Donald Trump and his agenda to return this country to its 'glory days' by 'making America great again' through using tools such as Craig's List, Facebook, SnapChat, Twitter, etc. This will be possible with funding sources such as George Soros's Open Society contributions to our brothers in Black Lives Matter.
  3. Our recruiting efforts for growing our ranks has been made more successful through the process of 'dumbing down' the youth of this country in the public school system. For this, we thank the NEA and AFT with their efforts to push social justice issues and ignore teaching the facts about this nation's history. That it's too flawed a system of governance and not saveable. After all, a nation of people ignorant of its past will not be free for long; this we know from efforts in other countries around the world.
  4. It is absolutely necessary to distort the truth on social issues to persuade the youth that whites are racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic, alt-righters who support slavery and the stripping of women's rights to an abortion on demand. That free speech means shutting down hate speech in order for us to successfully control the narrative; both through the press and on the Internet.
  5. Corporations and "big pharma", while not aligned with us, are continuing to control the establishment Republicans in Congress in our favor. So, we know we can count on them to maintain a log jam for any significant bills being proposed to assist with Trump's attempt to turn the status quo in the country around. So far, the "gridlock" and diversion of topics discussed in the news is working for us.

"Now, if you're worrying whether the public will see the hypocrisy between our having orchestrated a policy of not allowing Pres. Obama to be disparaged during his administration, but to constantly and ruthlessly delegitimize Trump for every little thing and make him look crazy, don't worry. Those who only get fed what's happening with the media providing them with a view that gives them only what we want them to hear, we're fine since they won't even recognize it. It will only be those who have been taught critical thinking skills, or have sufficient experience in life that will be of any concern and they will mostly be the over 50 generations."

"There will be other circumstances and opportunities that will present themselves in the future, so we must remain dedicated and focused on keeping the distractions, disruptions, and diversions coming in order to keep any significant legislation from being passed in Congress with the help of our friends in the Republican Party."

"Let's get to work and implement this agenda!"

Gaming the System of Social Welfare

Why Nobody Works Anymore...
Now follow this:

The new American way of life, get on board...

For a guy and his girlfriend with two kids, all you have to do is follow these proven steps:

1. Don't marry her!

2. Always use your mom's address to get your mail.

3.The guy buys a house.

4.The guy rents out house to his girlfriend with his two kids.

5. Section 8 will pay $900 a month for a 3 bedroom home.

6. Girlfriend signs up for Obamacare, so guy doesn't have to pay for family insurance.

7. Girlfriend gets to go to college for free for being a single mother.

8. Girlfriend gets $600 a month for food stamps.

9. Girlfriend gets a free cell phone.

10 Girlfriend get free utilities.

11.Guy moves into home, but continues to use mom's address for his mail.

12. Girlfriend claims one kid and guy claims the other kid on their tax forms. Now both get to claim head of household at $1800 credit.

13. Girlfriend gets $1800 a month disability for being "crazy" or having a "bad back" and never has to work again.

This plan is perfectly legal and is being executed now by millions of people.

A married couple with a stay-at-home mom yields $0 dollars.

An unmarried couple with stay-at-home mom nets $21,600 disability + $10,800 free housing + $6,000 free Obamacare + $6,000 free food + $4,800 free utilities + $6,000 Pell grant money to spend + $12,000 a year in college tuition free from Pell grant + $8,800 tax benefit for being a single mother = $76,000 a year in benefits!

Any idea why the country is $18 trillion plus in debt and half the population is sitting around letting the other half pay their way?

How the Iraq War Was Won and Lost

Most millennials, who were too young to care or follow our nation's response to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York, and many adults who believed the mainstream media's propaganda, are mostly mistaken as to why the Iraq war was a disaster by U.S. troops in the middle-east. Their high school and college teachers gave them the typical biased view based on their hatred and disgust of Pres. George Bush. Yet, and this is the ironic point that this video from Prager U makes, the Obama administration took the credit for what Bush had decided to do about the problems there and ultimately Pres. Obama created the power vacuum which ensued after negotiations failed.
