Am I the Only One Who Wonders About This?

This article, about a recent drug seizure at the border, reminded me of a concern I expressed about two months ago regarding President Trump's "build the wall" campaign promise which he is going through with. I agree with the concept of stopping the illegals from just walking into our country and sucking off our largess, along with cutting off the massive drug trafficking which has been devastating our nation's youth. However, there's one big problem I see looming over the horizon regarding the completion of the wall.

I wonder if anyone in his administration is looking ahead to the fallout which will result.

As the wall is completed, and the drug flow into our nation dries up, what will be in place to take care of dealing with all of the drug addicted individuals who are going to see their supply disappear? Illegals have already arrived and overwhelmed our emergency rooms at hospitals; and we're picking up the tab. So, where are those who need a fix going to go?

You guessed it - if you're thinking, even with half-a-brain tied behind your back - my concern is that many of them are going to become increasingly desperate and resort to burglary of any and every resource they can access - your home, store, etc. - to pay for the skyrocketing cost of their drug of choice... or worse. In my region we've already seen a massive escalation of homeless people living in tent towns around certain areas. Local municipalities are already overwhelmed with the homeless.

The Mayor of Seattle has already directed his city council to vote on providing funds to pay for "safe zones" to allow heroin addicts to shoot up in the presence of a nurse to deal with the current level of epidemic going on already. Add to that roving drug addicts who are now desperate to get a fix because the flow has dried up and things could get nastier fast.

I sure hope I'm "all wet" on this, but that wouldn't be too difficult here in the Pacific Northwest where it's been raining more than usual for months now.
